2024: Doing Less and Achieving More

2024-01-162 min read

Happy New Year! Another year, another opportunity to improve and do better. This year, I will focus on doing less and achieving more.

Release a Few Big Features over 100 Small Ones

For YoPrint, I’ve decided to prioritize releasing a few big features instead of focusing on 100 minor improvements. We’ve been so focused on smaller features that we are not pushing the envelope on what YoPrint can be. We will still treat bugs as our highest priority with a renewed focus on impactful features.

Delegating Customer Success

Last year, customer support, demos, and onboarding took the bulk of my time. While I enjoy talking to our users and learning more about their use cases, it’s also true that this is taking too much of my time. This year, I will let our Customer Success Manager handle most of it and only jump in when it matters. This will allow me to focus on the big picture.

Code Less and Manage More

Our engineering team has been doing an incredible job with feature releases, and this year, I am planning to delegate most of the coding to them while only stepping in as needed. Instead, I will be playing more of a Product Manager role where I gather requirements and work with the designer, frontend engineer, and backend engineer to release the feature.

Write 12 Few Articles This Year

I want to focus on sharing some of my learning and journey running a business. Most of them are not going to new or revolutionary ideas. Instead, it’s just me casting a vote for the best idea for me. My goal is to write 12 articles this year and see where we land at the end.

Reading Less and Do More

I am constantly bombarding myself with new information without any time to process and implement it. Rather than knowing 100 new ideas and acting on none, it’s better to know ten ideas and work on one. Like software, a few completed features are better than 100 in the backlog.

These are the 5 ideas I am trying this year. Let’s see where it goes.

Cheers 🥂
